Manannán mac Lir is the mysterious guardian of the seas and mists, the ferryman between this world and the next. He appears in many guises—sometimes as a cloaked traveler, other times as a radiant king upon the waves. He commands enchanted vessels, cloaks of invisibility, and the mists that separate planes.
He is worshiped by sailors, mystics, smugglers, psychopomps, and wanderers who move through liminal spaces. Shrines to him often appear near ferry crossings, coastal cliffs, or veiled glades where the air is thick with magic and mystery.
